About Specialty Doors
Specialty doors are engineered door assemblies built to resist a specific threat or control a specific condition, such as ballistic attack, blast pressure, sound transmission or radiation. Mills & Nebraska supplies them for courthouses, government buildings, data centers, broadcast facilities and hospitals across Florida.
Each type is specified by its own performance measure: a ballistic level for bullet-resistant doors, blast criteria for blast-rated doors, an STC value for acoustic doors in recording studios and medical facilities, and a lead equivalency for shielded doors in hospital X-ray, CT and imaging rooms.
Because performance depends on the full assembly, our team coordinates the door, frame and hardware together so the installed opening matches the tested rating.
How to choose
Define the threat or performance level first (UL 752 level, blast criteria, STC value or lead equivalency), then specify the door, frame and hardware as one tested assembly. Our team coordinates specialty door specifications for courthouse, school, government, data center and healthcare projects.
Specialty doors are quoted per project from the shielding report, threat rating or acoustic requirement in the specifications, and supplied from our Orlando headquarters.
