Guest room entry doors that open onto a rated corridor are typically 20-minute fire-rated, self-closing and positive latching. The corridor rating comes from the Florida Building Code 8th Edition (2023) and NFPA 101 based on the building's construction and sprinklers, so confirm it on the approved life safety plan.
What does an STC rating mean for a hotel door?
STC (Sound Transmission Class) is a single-number rating of how well an assembly blocks airborne sound; higher numbers block more sound. A sound-rated door only reaches its tested STC when the door, frame, seals and threshold are installed together as the tested assembly.
