About Knock-Down Frames
A knock-down (KD) frame is a hollow metal door frame that ships unassembled and is put together in the field, typically wrapping a finished wall opening. Because the pieces are compact, knock-down frames move easily through corridors and elevators in occupied buildings, such as high-rises and existing office buildings.
Knock-down frames suit renovation and tenant improvement work where a welded frame cannot be set with the wall, and they adapt to existing wall thicknesses and conditions, from historic downtown buildings to condo renovations.
How to choose
Choose knock-down frames when access is limited or walls are already finished, such as renovating an office tower or updating a hospital wing. Confirm the wall thickness (jamb depth), fire rating and hardware preps before ordering.
