Mills and Nebraska

What Does Dedicated Look Like?

Posted on Aug 19 2020

If longevity is a precursor to dedication, then Mills & Nebraska has been blessed with a very dedicated man. After 35 years of being the go-to guy for the upkeep of the property and all things mechanical, our George has officially retired.

Over the years he morphed with Mills, playing an important multi-faceted role where he touched many of the critical daily operations of the company and the equipment we use. He came to work, did his job well, and cared about the company. Not even surgeries or bumps, cuts, and bruises would stop him from being here. He had a job to do, a responsibility to keep, and people who were counting on him - his family and his Mills family.

For anyone who would listen, George was willing to tell them the proper way to load a truck, use a forklift, or any other job related task. His knowledge, work ethic, and drive to make and keep things right and running have always been admirable. Even though he's in his early 80's, he can hold his own and outwork most of the young guys around here - hands down.

Prior to coming to Mills, George was a mechanic. He also served in the Air Force as a Jet Fighter mechanic and served during the Vietnam War. His first job was at the age of 4 where he picked the branches off the trees and fed the cows the leaves. Albert Einstein said, "Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work." Using Albert's calculations we can come to the conclusion that George is a genius.

Happy Retirement George! It is well deserved.
