Lean Process - Can Work Wait?

Ever been at work waiting on direction from someone so you can get your job done? It can be frustrating and a waste of time. One of the purposes of lean is to create "value". Wasted time does not create value and therefore is identified and eliminated. The adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words" holds true in this lean application.

Wait work boards provide a visual display of management so that work teams can be self-directed. No one is waiting around for something to do. The teams know what they need to do and in what order work needs to be done. The wait work boards are color-coded and provide direction for prioritizing work flow and identifying any problems. This creates a smooth and successful process which adds value for both the company and the customer. Speaking of visual, see it explained and put into practice here:
